Overview
This article is about the current version of the app. For the original version of the app, see Talking Gummibär (2012).

Talking Gummy Bear (occasionally titled as Talking Gummibär) is a virtual pet game developed by Unico Games and released by Viva Game Studios on October 16, 2019, loosely based on the Gummibär series. It serves as a rework of the original app developed by Talking Toys, being famously known for featuring 3D modelled visuals rather than pre-rendered images and new features. The app can be downloaded for free in both Android and iOS operating systems.

The functionalities of the game are pretty much an inspiration from a traditional game genre consisting of virtual pets that can be manipulated by the player, making them repeat any phrase the player says or take care of them. This genre has been increasingly popularized by the Tamagotchi toys and Pou, the latter being what led to many videogame companies to implement similar features to their apps for mobile devices.

In recent years, Talking Gummy Bear became one of the most accessible videogames based on the Gummibär series and being also one of the most well known apps, gaining over millions of downloads on Google Play. The videogame studio involved with the development of the game, Unico Games, encouraged to start producing a number of apps that involve the Gummibär character; those being Gummy Bear Runner and Gummy Bear Aqua Park, which had similar popularity.

Gameplay[]

Overview[]

The purpose of the game consists of taking care of Gummibär, a green anthropormophic gummy bear. One of the primary features of the game is the player being able to interact with Gummibär by saying any phrase to him to then him repeating the same phrase spoken in a high-pitched voice. The player can also interact with his body by touching one of his body parts, which will make Gummy perform various acts in a funny way. The player will also need to be very consistent with Gummibär, as in some occasions he could feel the need to relieve himself, such as cleaning his body, recovering from illness, eating food and sleep. Accomplishing all these objectives will help Gummy to remain in a good state of health.

The player not only has to control Gummy, but also can navigate through other features that are in the game. Some of these features include taking a photograph using stickers of the Gummibär character, making Gummy play a tuba or dancing to the rythm of any Gummibär song, and playing mini-games. It is also possible to customize the appearance of Gummibär, making him wear any sorts of accessories on his head.

In the internal files inside the app for the game, an image can be viewed on older versions of the game entitled "sol_1.png", depicting what appears to be an animation guide of the 3D model for the Gummibär character. Said image features the rig armature of the model that would be used to animate the character in-game.
  • There are a couple of unused audio files that can be seen on older versions while datamining the internal files of the app. Some of these include an audio clip entitled "error.wav", which appears to be an error sound that would be used when an internal error ocurrs in-game, and "effect.wav".
