King of Sports (initially titled "War of Score" in production[1]) is a techno song performed by Gummibär from the series of the same name that was released as an animated music video on YouTube on February 7, 2025. On February 11, 2025, the digital single released on YouTube Music and would be released across all available platforms two days later. It was written by Christian Schneider and Maci Schneider, the latter also being involved with the production of the music.
The plot of the music video is centered on different types of sports, where Gummibär is practicing doing them in a stadium while scoring points as if it was a video game, all the while being watched by a large audience. However, on a couple of occasions, he makes a foolish mistake in the process.
The video was earlier teased on Gummibär's Official Server with a couple of screenshots of the music video[2], until it was eventually released in the Discord server with an unlisted YouTube link before it was shortly officially made public.
The music video starts with Gummy entering a stadium called "King of Sports". It then cuts to a scene where he attempts to play baskeball. While he is trying to throw the ball into the hoop, it bounces off and ends up hitting on his head.
Next, the video transitions to a golf course. Gummy prepares to swing at a golf ball, but in the process, he accidentally throws his golf club, which strikes another Gummy who is driving a golf cart, causing the cart to ignite. In other scenes, Gummy is shown getting ready to kick a soccer ball into the goal. While attempting this, he trips over the ball and slides on the grass, but still manages to kick it into the goal successfully.
Later, Gummy jumps off a diving board into the water and swims underwater while being chased by a shark. He is also seen playing American football, moving from side to side. The video includes a sequence of him juggling multiple footballs until he slips on a banana peel that was on the ground, causing the balls to bounce off his belly. Most of the other scenes include Gummy kicking a row of soccer balls, throwing a baseball with a bat, and playing tennis.
Gummy jumps off a diving board once again, while wearing a wing suit that allows him to fly in the sky. He also later attempts to throw a hammer, but due to the increased weight, it causes to Gummy to fly away with it. Then, he ends up landing on a plane and starts driving it, while collecting coins that make him score points. However, at one point when he stops holding the rudder and starts to tip over, Gummy gets out of the plane and ends up falling into a ball pool, where he starts to use a paddle ball toy.
The following scenes reuse the same scenes that had been previously seen, until Gummy throws a tennis ball that causes the other Gummy's racket to break. In the last scenes, Gummy performs a pole vault, but ends up landing on the limit bar which causes it to break and he ends up bouncing off, to then land on the winner's stage again and come in first place. Gummibär celebrates with delight, as he is awarded three first place medals while the audience cheers and a banana peel is thrown at him, until as he begins to strike a pose, he is hit by a basketball next to him, causing him to be immobilized.

Production[]

On March 14, 2025, the Gummibär social media accounts made a post promoting the music video's release. However, the variant of the video used features a different title from its official known version as "War of Score" that was accidentally used instead from the final one.[1] Eventually, it was confirmed that the title used for the video variant was a working title that was given during the development of the video, while the song lyrics and animation were kept the same from the final version with some missing additional sound effects.[3]
A completely different song was considered to be used for the music video. However, after playback tests with the video were done, it was decided to not use it for the time being. Despite this, it has been discussed that the song could be re-used for a future music video.[4]
King of Sports was seemingly originally going to be released after U Can't Touch This, judging by the screenshots that were posted by gummydude on Gummibär's Official Server after it[5], as well as said music video ended up being later delayed, which caused to it be released after King Of Sports.[6]
Callbacks[]
The scene where Gummy rides a plane is quite reminiscent of Gummibär: Mobile Game's gameplay where a similar mechanic is used in the flying levels. Initially, fans theorized that it may or may not have been an intentional reference, until it was soon confirmed that it was indeed intentional.[7]
The scene where Gummy's face is shown on screen while throwing a hammer resembles a scene Maya Banga Hey's music video when caveman Gummy is seen throwing the dinosaur at the same angle.
After Gummibär is hit by a basketball at the end of the music video, he strikes a pose similar to the one seen in I Am A Gummy Bear's music video when Gummy bumps into the microphone.
Errors[]
Gummy's model can be seen clipping through several spots of his body, such as the mouth, arms and torso. This could be in large part due to the poor painting of the weight of the model when it is manipulated with rig bones to allow it to perform movements.
In the scene where Gummy jumps in a diving board, there is a small moment where the animation frames completely freezes for a few seconds and then returns. It is unknown if this was intentional or not.
