Gummibär is a multimedia franchise created by the Serbian-born composer Christian Schneider, and owned by Gummybear International. The franchise follows Gummibär, a CGI-animated green anthropormophic gummy bear who is highlighted for having the capacity of singing and dancing, thus leading him to perform a series of songs and music videos starring him. Occasionally, he also gets accompanied by a group of two of his friends; Kala, a martial-arts expert female cat, and Harry, a male scientist chamaleon.
The flagship Gummibär series is primarily focused on music, with the production of music videos and songs that involve the Gummibär character which are casually posted online, particularily through the YouTube platform. Starting off with the song I Am A Gummy Bear, which its popularity led to many appearances in other media; video games, a market for merchandise featuring its characters, an animated television series; Gummibär & Friends, and two full-length films; The Yummy Gummy Search for Santa and Gummibär & Friends: Operation Cotton Candy, the franchise has set other subsidiaries of the same variety, including Paperotti and BellyFant, who have shared the same ownership by Gummybear International.
The Gummibär series has significantly become a global entertainment phenomenon across the Internet, most notably appointed by its series of animated music videos involving the titular character. Owing to its widespread popularity, the franchise has engaged both young and older audiences, bringing it several licensing deals with other brands to distribute its products and become world-renowned.
