Gummibär: Mobile Game is an action-adventure mobile game based on the Gummibär series developed and published by Game-Ever for JAVA ME devices in 2008, serving as the first videogame centered on the series to be released. It revolves around Gummibär being tasked to find magical fruits hidden in several levels in exchange of special instruments and dance moves. The game notably takes direct inspiration from the elements that have appeared in Gummibär's music videos at the time, particularly by the soundtrack.

In the game, there are different mini-games with a variety of subjects, from platform levels, to rhythm puzzles, nautical levels, and flying. There are 3 difficulty modes, 24 challenging levels, 8 music tracks throughout, and 2 different play modes, which are story mode and arcade mode.

The game was later ported to other devices with more improvised graphics in 2009, specifically for iOS and Flash. The Flash version runs pretty much as an shortened and limited version of the game.

Synopsis[]

Gummibär shares his excitement about his participation on a dance competition to his group of friends after they went surfing. Gummy tells them that he was preparing for a dance competition that would be hosted tomorrow and asked them if he could show his dance moves.

After Gummy performed his dance moves in front of his friends and congratulated him, they began to pack their stuff to catch a flight on the jet plane. On their way to the concert, a sudden storm causes the jet plane to not work correctly, which forces them to immediately make an emergency landing on an island. Gummy and his friends managed to land safely as the plane was nearly about to crash. However, they landed on an island they do not know at all.

Surrounded by unusual plants, Gummy calms down his group of friends to look for someone who inhabits the place to ask for help. Until all of a sudden they are surrounded by a tribe of fierce savage gummy bears who speak in a different language that confuses his friends. Gummy explains that it is an ancient gummy language, which he learnt it long time ago. He explains the tribe is asking them who they are and how they came to be there. Gummy talks to the tribe in their language about what happened and they invite them to visit their village to meet the chief that can speak in their normal language.

The chief welcomes Gummy and his friends to their village and introduces himself as Gummyberry. Gummy talks to him about what happened too and tells him that they arrived hungry and tired of the walking. One of Gummy's friends asks the chief about the strange musical instruments, and he responds that they are their holy "Gummymagic" musical instruments which can be played after collecting the magical instruments going on the nearby islands. The chief provides Gummy with the map that will guide them to the fruits and tells them that they must be very careful, as the islands are surrounded by dangerous obstacles.

Trivia[]

  • One of the posters in the background that appear in Gummibär's room features a promotional image of the movie "South Park Bigger Longer and Uncut", as well as an image of the song Clocks by the British rock band Coldplay.
  • This is not only the first Gummibär game, but also the first Gummibär project that Game-Ever was involved in, before this company eventually became the recurring animation studio for the music videos between 2009 to 2020.
  • This is one of the first Gummibär-related products where it uses elements from the music video and song of Nuki Nuki, as both the song and music video would release a year later in The Official Gummibär Channel on YouTube in 2009.
  • This is likely one of the first attempts to introduce new characters that act as Gummy's companions, being introduced as three young humans. These characters would never appear in other Gummibär-related material since then but instead were replaced with two anthropormophic animals that would take their roles; those being Kala and Harry.
    • Interestingly enough, this is the first Gummibär-related product to formally introduce humans in the entire series.
  • Most of the sprites of Gummibär dancing from this game were later reused for Gummibär's Official Server, being featured as animated emoticons that can only be used with a Discord Nitro subscription.
